Our Process
STEP 1: INTRODUCTION TO PROSTHETIC CARE
The first step on the road to rehabilitation with Robard Bionics is a visit with one of our patient care coordinators. Our focus during this visit is to understand your needs and goals when it comes to daily activities. Furthermore, we will educate you on how Robard Bionics will help restore your mobility, clearly laying out a timeline, aligning your expectations, and answering any questions you might have. We will also collect your insurance provider information and discuss your coverage.
In addition to the consultation with a patient care coordinator, you will have the opportunity to speak with an amputee ambassador. Our amputee ambassadors are current patients that have done exceptional jobs overcoming amputation. They are happy to share their testimonies and prepare you with the important mindsets and practices that led them to success. If you would like to connect with an amputee ambassador in person or over the phone, kindly communicate this request with our representatives or use the following link provided:

STEP 2: INSURANCE VERIFICATION
Robard Bionics will communicate with your insurance provider and discover the percentage of coverage allowed by your insurance plan. We will clearly articulate the cost billable to insurance and discuss payment options with you if necessary. Our patient care coordinators are happy to answer any questions you have regarding coverage from Medicare, private insurance plans, or any of the other financial resources we support. They can also help you find financial aid if you do not have insurance coverage, including state funded programs for those who qualify.
STEP 3: CONSULTATION WITH PROVIDERS
After you feel comfortable and understand the care that a partnership with us offers, we will consult with your medical providers to obtain the medical documentation necessary to proceed with your care.
STEP 4: EVALUATION
As soon as we verify your insurance and receive all the necessary documentation from your referring physician, one of our practitioners will schedule an evaluation. The practitioner will evaluate the strength and range of motion of your residual limb. In addition, he or she will perform the Amputee Mobility Predictor (AMP) test. The AMP test assists the prosthetist in determining the appropriate activity level (or K level) of your condition. Notes on your medical history and the physical condition of your residual limb will be recorded as well. The information collected during this visit is crucial for our fabrication lab to create a custom prosthesis just for you.
STEP 5: FABRICATION
The prosthetist and technicians will work diligently in our fabrication laboratory to design your socket for a comfortable, functional fit. The socket will be paired with state-of-the-art components, appropriate for your activity level, to build a prosthesis that meets your functional needs.
STEP 6: DELIVERY
Delivery day is an exciting day! The practitioner will coordinate this appointment with you, your family, and potentially the therapist that will be working with you if you are a new amputee in rehabilitation. The fit of the socket will be verified and height adjustments of the pylons will be made for your comfort and satisfaction. Additionally, the practitioner will teach you how to properly put on the prosthesis, give you key guidance for using it, and educate you on how to properly maintain it.
STEP 7: CONTINUOUS CARE PLAN
Because you are the heart of Robard Bionics, we are committed to you not just up to the delivery of your prosthesis, but continuously afterwards. Our Continuous Care Plan is designed to keep your care active and progressive. Our staff will reach out with personal calls every couple months to ensure your satisfaction and to address any concerns that arise with your prosthesis. In addition, we will schedule visits with our practitioners to monitor your progress, evaluate changes in socket fit, and assess wear and tear. If you are a newly amputated patient, you will continue to see physiological changes in your residual limb up to 18 months after surgery. You will likely experience volume fluctuations for which our practitioners may need to adjust the socket to preserve the integrity of your residual limb. Our team is readily equipped and experienced to address any changes that may arise. We are committed to providing reliable service that keeps you happy and healthy!
